Recently I was reading the testimony of a former abortion worker. Like most in that industry, she had an abortion years before. She took the position at her local clinic to help women. However, it was not long before she only cared about the money they brought in. She said, “I stopped seeing the women but instead saw the numbers.”
The story struck me. 2021 was our busiest year in 29 years. I immediately prayed, “Lord, please let us see and love the women you bring to our doors.” Our center should be everything the abortion clinic is not: a safe place where these women feel loved and seen. We are here to save the babies; but in that desire to save, it is easy to forget the mother and father who are scared and need help.
I am thankful for how easily anyone can see that Choices Resource Center is different. With a holistic approach, we begin making an impact in the community with education in the public schools. Volunteers, some who are student pastors, teach puberty classes in elementary schools and sexual integrity and abstinence in upper schools. We partner with the area high school and help with pregnancy and STD testing. Then through our paid online advertisements, we meet women and their partners where they are, often pregnant and scared, thinking abortion is the only way. We offer help to these women while pregnant and give them and their partner the opportunity to attend parenting and life-skills classes so they can earn everything they would need for their baby. We allow parents to continue in the parenting program until their child is four years old. All of this is done with the intent to save the life of their child; help them adjust to the new path to which their circumstances have brought them; and, most importantly, share the gospel. And all of this is possible because of your gracious generosity, as you selflessly provide what we need to minister to these precious mothers, fathers, and babies.
In only a few short months, the Supreme Court of the United States may rule each state is allowed to make their own laws on abortion. If this happens, Tennessee is already postured to ban abortion immediately. This is what we have hoped and prayed for! But have you ever wondered what it will look like if abortion becomes illegal? The exciting reality is we will likely have more women and men at our door looking for help than ever before. We are able to help them parent their child or find parents for their child through adoption.
Thank you for seeing her, the scared mother along with her innocent unborn child. Choices Resource Center is ready for whatever God allows this year; and it is only because of you, our faithful giving and praying partners.
